In the Store at Quilts 'n More

by Kathleen Allen

Brrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!! Hope this finds everyone warm and well. Hopefully this will successfully find its way to everyone. We are still having some glitches with our newsletter mail outs. One thing you might do if you have signed up to receive the newsletter by email is to make sure it is not going into your spam mail or to allow the "info @quiltsnmore.biz" address into you email.

We have two more BOM's starting up in the next two months, a Customer Appreciation Auction, some new classes, a Shop Hop, some special 10-year celebration events, and lots more. Be sure to check out the special dates to the left and the classes section of the website. By the way, you can now sign up for classes on our website in the shopping section under classes.

If you are a person who does Facebook, Quilts 'n More is now on Facebook. On the bottom of each of our web pages, there is a button that will take you to Facebook where you can become a fan. If you are typing our name in the search section of Facebook, don't put an apostrophe in it. Either way will get you there. We are posting reminders and notifications about events about every two days. Just another way to try to keep you all informed.

Customer Appreciation Auction

On April 9 we will hold sixth annual Customer Appreciation Auction which will include a live auction, a silent auction, a "garage sale", and a general sale.  The only catch is that you can only spend QNM Bucks.  It is during this event that we give away items that we might have only one of or items of which we have an overabundance.  It is just a fun night that we try to show how much we appreciate you, our customers.

It is not too late to start collecting those QNM Bucks. Each time you make a purchase, we match you buck for buck. In March every Wednesday will be Double Buck Day during which your buck values doubled. You don't need a lot of bucks to get something that night and the fun does not cost a cent.

Thimbleberries Club 2010

It is not too late to join Thimbleberries Club. Thimbleberries 2010 is a 12 month block of the month called "Village Green" featuring house, stars, and trees.  We are offering two colorways--dusk and midnight. Quilt Club Membership includes monthly newsletters and exclusive Club projects throughout the year. You will also receive exclusive quilt options using the Village Green 12 block patterns--a throw variation, a queen variation and an alternative block setting for the original quilt. The Club meets on the first Saturday of the month at 10am with light refreshments, door prizes, sharing of quilting ideas and tips, and lots of fun socializing. The cost for joining for a year is $25 plus $2 monthly dues. The cost of the kits is $20 a month or $54 quarterly.

Two More New Blocks of the Month for 2010

Our second BOM will begin March 13. This is a pieced winter holiday quilt called Be Merry, which can be done as one large quilt or two small quilts. Monthly kits will include the pattern and fabric for a cost of $10 a kit.  There will also be a finishing kit and an embellishment kit available at the end.  This is a 6 month BOM so you could have this done in time for the holiday season.

In April we will have a trunk show of Lovebird Lane, a gorgeous quilt by the same designer of the Sweet Tea quilt and the Thyme to Water quilt that we have done as BOMs. On April 24 we will host a kickoff event to begin the 6 month Lovebird BOM. The background will be purchased up front and then monthly kits, which will include the pattern and fabric, for a cost  of $10.

Be sure to pre-register for either of these so that we can have patterns and kits cut for you.

New Birthday Blooms Club

The Birthday Blooms Club will have its first meeting on February 20 and every third Saturday after that.  The Birthday Blooms Club is designed to celebrate friendship and combine two of life's greatest pleasures, quilting and gardening. This BOM includes 12 pieced flower block patterns complete with fabric requirements and cutting and piecing instructions for 12" and 24" blocks. Along with each block, four additional quilt ideas are included with fabric requirements. The BOM also includes a Garden Trellis connector block and instructions for piecing the quilt top.The cost of  membership will be $20 plus a monthly cost of $5 for the kit.  Background fabric will be purchased separately.  Check the store for more details.

Texas Wildflower Shop Hop

Need a day out with your quilting buddies? Plan to go on the Texas Wildflower Shop Hop March 25-27. This Hop includes eight stores--ours plus Common Threads in Waxahachie, Just Stitchin in Cedar Hill, Cotton Cottage in Fairfield, Tommorrow's Quilts in Waco, Quiltin Country in Killeen, A Sewing Basket in Salado, and Poppy Quilt 'n Sew in Georgetown. It is a short enough Hop to be done in a day. The hours are 9am-8pm on Thursday and Friday and 9am-6pm on Saturday. Each store will give away a free pattern of their quilt. For those who finish the hop, there will be a $500 and a $350 gift basket, a $50 gift certificate from each store as well as numerous other prizes. The theme this year is "Vacation Destinations" with each store carrying out someplace to vacation. We are doing the mountains and our quilt pattern will reflect just that. If you can't make them all, we encourage you to visit those you can.

Mystery Quilt Step of the Month

For those who enjoy a mystery quilt, we will be starting up our Step of the Month Mystery Quilt on April 10. The pattern is available each monthon the second Saturday or after for $1. We try to keep it simple enough for those who are new to quilting. The quilt will finish lap size or larger (we haven't decided yet). Then in October we will host our Show and Tell Brunch where we get to see everyone's quilt top. It is always interesting to see how different each quilt looks yet is made from the same pattern. This does not need any pre-registration--just come by on April 10 or after and get your first step which is fabric selection. If you wish to buy your fabric here, we will give our usual 15% class discount.

More Ideas for our 10 Year Celebration

To celebrate our ten years in businesss we have been trying to think of ways to celebrate. For one thing, on the 10th of every month we will give 10% off any purchases (excluding quilting).  Also on the 10th of each month we will have some sort of small giveaway--a free pattern, a small notion, or quilter's candy(fabric).  And we have recently decided that during the last 10 days of the month, we will give a 40% off coupon for one item or fabric cut to be used during one designated week of the following month. Keep watching for other ideas as we go through the year.

Pet Screen for Sewing?

No, we haven't added a pet or screen business within in our store. We are making bags. We have found some cute patterns using colored pet screen to make large and small bags-beach bags, make up bags, pencil bags, and more. We have eight colors to choose from so something is sure to match your fabric. We have had one class already and have added another to be held the last Saturday of February, the 27th, at 9:30. The cost is $30 which includes a 1/2 yard of 54" screen and the pattern. All you need to make a bag is a fat quarter. Call and add your name today or go online and sign up.

No Tax Day

Since you have to pay your taxes on April 15, we are going to give you a break and pay the tax for you on any purchase you make that day in the store. It is our way of boosting your economy since you boost ours each time you shop.
